Winter is Coming

Carbon Monoxide detectors across the state to expire this year. Beginning January 1, 2011 a law was passed in California. The Law states that one carbon monoxide alarm is required in all existing single family dwellings with either a fuel burning heater, fuel burning appliance, fireplaces, or an attached garage. The law is referred to as the California Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Act of 2010.

Before the heating season comes, now is the time to get your heating system maintenanced. This should include: inspection of filters, have a licensed HVAC technician check the ductwork, registers, dust combustion chamber, clean blower, and test thermostat. Because the average Carbon Monoxide sensor has an effective life span of 7 years, a majority of them will expire this year. It is crucial that they be replaced.
